I’m back from my first Caribbean vacation of 2024— a week sailing around the islands of the Bahamas was the best way to kick-start the year. Today I’m sharing what to wear on your trip to the Bahamas complete with nine vacation-approved outfit ideas. I’ve got lots of swimsuits, pretty dresses, and straw accessories linked. As always I’m also sharing directions to each photo location so that you can recreate these pics on your next vacation!
For reference, I visited in January and it was much chillier than I expected. While it was warm enough for a swimsuit and shorts, it was quite windy on the water and got rather brisk in the evenings making me wish I had packed a little differently. Sharing a few packing must-haves at the end that I highly suggest bringing along for your next trip.

One of my favorite swimsuits to date— this Dippin Daisys suit had me living out my mermaid dreams! I love getting suits from here because they offer such a variety of styles. One colorway is available in several different tops and bottoms plus their pieces are sold separately which is ideal for sizing. You know I love supporting a small, woman-owned business!
This was the most flattering color + I love a string bikini. Use code MCK15 for 15% off your purchase.

Fortunate One has the cutest vacation clothes— this lightweight linen dress was the perfect look for dinner and drinks. Leave your mini dresses at home, and pack the maxis instead. It’s super windy in the Bahamas this time of year… you’ll thank me later!
I had Madison coordinating in this colorful dress. This was a Petal & Pup find, another great retailer to shop at for resort wear.

I had to bring this adorable bikini from the new Dippin Daisys X Olivelynn partnership with me! This underwire style top is one of my favorites, giving you a ton of support while still looking sexy. This print was available in a few different bottoms but I grabbed the Angel for a family-friendly fit!
I got a gazillion questions about this cute set– it’s from one of my favorite retailers Fortunate One. This could work with a pair of sandals for an afternoon in town however I left it unbuttoned and thrown over my kini as a cover-up! Available in a few different colorways, use code MCKENZIE10 for 10% off your purchase.

Even at 22 years old, I still love making my twin sister match with me! I got these adorable suits from a small business based in the Virgin Islands, Shop Southern Saint. Their materials are sustainably sourced and their prints are available in men/women/children so the whole family can coordinate!
I can never say no to a sexy one-piece. The cut-out details and ruffle accents made this suit that much cuter! Use my code SHOPMCKENZIE for free shipping on your order.

Sam and I packed the same dress for this vacation without even knowing, hence the matching moment. This plunging floral dress from Fortunate One has to be one of the most flattering pieces I’ve ever put on my body. It’s got a strappy back and a full, flowy skirt. Truly the perfect easy breezy dress for a night on the town.
photo location ✈ Pig Island
One more bikini from the latest Dippin Daisys collection—I couldn’t resist this adorable seashell print. I don’t usually reach for strapless styles and yet I had no issues with this one moving around. I grabbed the Nocturnal bottoms which were just the right amount of cheeky for a family vacation. If you want something a little more revealing you can browse their other styles here.
photo location ✈ No Name Cay
We spent half a day exploring the shops, cottages, and lighthouse of No Name Cay. It ended up being super humid and windy so a linen maxi dress was the perfect outfit for the occasion. This is such a cute style for any of you honeymooners or if you’re looking to refresh those family photos!
Wearing my all-time favorite straw shoes from Dolce Vita. These have a baby 1.5-inch block heel—super easy to walk in and very comfortable. I’m not kidding when I say I bring these on every warm-weather vacation. Can’t forget that cutie clutch. Under $10 and goes with everything.

We hit the town for a night of bar hopping and let me tell you, it’s chilly here in the evenings! Highly suggest packing at least one lightweight linen and having something long on top or bottom. This white linen set is another Fortunate One find. I originally planned on wearing it as a swimsuit cover-up but with a pair of nipple petals, it was perfect for a casual night of bar hopping along No Name Cay. Super chill vibe here so I’d skip the dress for this night out!
I would suggest bringing a lightweight sweater so you can tie it around your shoulders in the evenings! I wish I’d brought a white one that would’ve paired with all the looks.

I didn’t get a great photo of the front of this suit but it was featured extensively throughout my Instagram stories and YouTube vlog so I wanted to link it for you regardless. This suit had the sweetest details — little bows, ruffles, and some lace along the bust, giving it a feminine lingerie-like feel. Perfect amount of cheeky in the back and the most insane quality. Blackbough never disappoints with their bikinis!
I spent my week in the Bahamas island hopping by boat so that was part of the reason it was cooler than I’d planned for. A few must have packing items
Wasn’t my best round of packing but I still loved these vacation outfit ideas. There’s no occasion more fun to dress for than a trip to the Caribbean. Still wanting more outfit inspo? Click here to browse some spring break ready outfit ideas by destination.
