7 Outfit Ideas To Wear This Winter to Spring Transition

You know that time of year where it’s colder than ever yet you’re craving spring like never before? Well, I’ve officially reached it and I’m combatting my winter blues with some new arrivals from American Eagle. Here are seven outfit ideas to wear during this awkward winter to spring transition period. Enjoy! 

Bundled In Pastels

Wishing for spring but stuck somewhere snowy? Head-to-toe pastels will get rid of that seasonal sadness real quick! This Woah So Soft sweater is one of my favorite American Eagle Pieces — it comes in a dozen colors and is the softest ever. I have a few different colorways already but couldn’t resist this fun patterned one. 

Cargo pants are trending for a second year in a row and American Eagle brought back my all-time favorite pair. These straight-leg pants have a relaxed feel that hugs the hips so effortlessly. They are a part of the “Dreamy Drape” collection which means they are super soft… you’ll feel like you’re wearing sweats despite looking put together. If you’re in between sizes, go down.

Pop of Pink

Who doesn’t love a pop of pink this time of year?! This is another great lightweight sweater to transition from winter to spring with. It has a boat neck that hangs slightly off the shoulder. Toss on with jeans (these are my most worn ever and only $35!) and sneakers and you’re good to go. 

Snow Season

Keep things light this winter with this outfit combo. This “Big Hug” crewneck is one of my favorite AE styles. I grabbed two of these in the fall and wear them all the time so I had to snag this pretty blue v-neck from their latest collection! These are the perfect lightweight pieces to layer with— you can throw a long sleeve underneath, and a vest/jacket over top. Come spring you’ll be able to wear this on its own without sweating! 

On the bottom, I’m wearing the best American Eagle pants I’ve ever purchased. OMG, are these straight-legs good! They aren’t quite denim but they are thicker and a *little* more structured than cargo pants. This color is the perfect neutral to keep things light for the spring. Plus, they pair perfectly with my favorite boots! 

This outfit is such an upgrade from my typical all-black winter look! 

Just Peachy

That sweater comes in a handful of colors and I couldn’t resist the bright peach! Makes things feel springy yet paired with boots, a beanie, and a cute puffer you can easily make this winter-ready. Try swapping your usual dark wash denim for something light like these. These have an asymmetrical waistband and a wide-leg fit that pairs well with chunky boots and platform sneakers.

Monochrome Moment

Rather than reaching for my usual black-on-black, I figured I’d spice things up with a little monochrome moment. This sweater is my new favorite — it’s 100% cotton which if you know you know is so hard to come by these days. Cotton is the best because it’s breathable, launders well, and is a natural fiber meaning it’s made to last! This sweater is the perfect weight to carry into spring.

Going Graphic

A graphic tee and cargo pants were always one of my go-to outfits in college. Super easy to throw on and works for every season. American Eagle has my favorite band tees— they have that “lived-in” feel and are the perfect amount of oversized. This is an XS/S for reference. Loving all the fun color options they have right now.

Cutesy Cardigan

Chunky grandpa cardigans are in this season and I’m not mad about it. Like most American Eagle pieces, this sweater has the ideal “lived-in” feel. Keep this buttoned up or leave it undone with a baby tee underneath— the perfect layering piece for this time of year.
