Guide to Greece

Greece is one of those bucket-list destinations that is every bit as beautiful in person as it is in the pictures! The stunning blue waters, vast mountains, and quaint villages will just take your breath away. With each turned corner there’s another picturesque spot that looks straight out of a magazine.

While most people think of Greece as just Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini, Greece actually has over 6,000 islands. And to many people’s surprise, the real authentic magic happens at the ones less traveled.

I’ve done it all here— stayed at a stunning all-inclusive in Mykonos and hopped on a Navigare yacht in Athens to cruise through the local islands. We spent a week visiting different ones— Poros, Aegina, Hydra; they all have their own unique vibe. Bursting with mouth-watering restaurants, friendly locals, and beautiful coastlines the Greek culture is captivating in a way no other country is.

Its beauty and diversity will have you planning a trip back before you’ve even left. Without a doubt some of the best food, shopping, and beaches you’ll find in Europe!

BIKINIS- Pack all the swimsuits… you’ll be soaking up the coastline and doing lots of swimming!

CROCHET- Greek style incorporates tons of crochet. Perfect for a beach cover-up.

STRAPPY SANDALS- You’ll want flat shoes here. Strappy lace-up sandals are so the vibe.

TIPS & TRICKS

What to Expect

LANGUAGE:

The official language of Greece is Greek however almost 50% of the country uses English as their first language as their economy relies heavily on tourism

SAFETY:

Generally speaking, Greece is a safe country, even for solo travelers. Express caution in the evenings/after dark.

CREDIT CARDS/ATMS:

Greece is a country of islands and while some area like Sanotrini and Mykonos are more advanced due to tourism others are not. Most restaurants/hotels will accept card however local shopping, markets, and taxis often require cash. ATMs are available but not as widely accessible so I suggest coming prepared.

CURRENCY:

The Greek currency is the Euro

HIGH SEASON:

High Season: April-August Low Season: August-October The Greek islands are unique in that they essentialy “close” from November-April. They are incredibly packed in the summer months so I suggest visiting during “shoulder season” September/October to enjoy the islands beauty with smaller crowds. The weather is still plenty warm, allowing you to swim and tan!
