Guide to Mexico

Hola amigas! Planning a trip to Mexico? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

Mexico is one of my all-time favorite destinations to travel to. Not only because it’s a short flight from the United States, but because it’s rich in culture and diversity.

Turquoise blue waters and white sandy beaches make this country a dream destination for those looking to relax and unwind. Mexico has over 500 all-inclusive resorts meaning all-you-can-eat buffets, bottomless margaritas, and live entertainment all at your fingertips.

Whether you’re looking for something family-friendly or upscale and adults-only Mexico has every type of accommodation you can imagine. Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta are some of the best destinations for this!

Some of my best adventures happened “off the beaten path”. While you do have to be careful when exploring Mexico, it’s so worth immersing yourself in their culture.

From mouth-watering dollar street tacos to swimming in crystal-clear cenotes to experiencing the Mayan architecture there’s so much to do and see here.

The country is huge with so much to explore. Playa del Carmen is next on my bucket list.

What I Packed for Mexico:

BIKINIS: You need all the swimsuits in Mexico. It gets super hot here so you’ll be spending all day in the water.

LINEN PANTS: You spend most of the day in a swimsuit here so you’ll want to pack a pair of linen pants to cover up with. I opted for pants over shorts to keep the bugs away!

BREEZY DRESSES: Nothing better than a pretty sundress after a long beach day. Opt for linens over silks to keep cool.

EXTRA UNDERWEAR:I know this may seem silly but this is one of those destinations where you just need to bring triple the underwear lol. It was so hot that we were changing constantly to feel fresh/get out of our sweat-drenched clothes.

BUG SPRAY- The bugs are bad here and bug spray is hard to find!

Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the US to this slice of paradise!

Cabo San Lucas for chic relaxing vibes, San Jose for rowdy fun.

TIPS & TRICKS

What to Expect

LANGUAGE:

The official language of Mexico is Spanish however in popular cities/touristy areas most employees know English.

SAFETY:

Mexico has a reputation for being unsafe. With a rise in crime and pickpocketing you definitely need to be aware of your surroundings at all times. I personally would avoid traveling/exploring alone here.

CREDIT CARDS/ATMS:

Cards are widely accepted in Mexico however it’s a good idea to have some cash on hand for tips, taxis, and small local purchases. ATMs are easy to access in the major cities and airports.

CURRENCY:

The currency in Mexico the Peso. Although American dollars are widely accepted, especially as tips.
