Guide to South Carolina

I visited South Carolina for the first time when I was eighteen years old and have gone back annually every year since. If you’re not careful, you’ll be charmed into staying for good… I’ve always said I’d like to settle down in Charleston one day.

Speaking of, it’s South Carolina’s most visited city. Charleston’s history dates back to 1670. It draws in people of all ages and cultures as it’s one of the fastest-growing cities in the US. With the College of Charleston and The Citadel colleges just blocks away from the city center, this area is booming with twenty-somethings.

Find some of the best local shopping along King Street. Take a walk down Rainbow Row to see the colorful houses. Indulge in the southern comfort food— Charleston is the food capital of the world with dozens of 5-star restaurants. Drive out to one of the beach towns— Kiawah, Folly, and Shem Creek are all just twenty minutes outside the city.

Of course, South Carolina is more than just Charleston. Colombia, Myrtle Beach, and Hilton Head are all popular hot spots too.

They have long, hot summers with unbearable humidity. Best to visit during the spring or fall so you can enjoy its charm to the fullest.
