Guide to Thailand

Visiting Thailand is like stepping into a world where you can travel backward through ancient culture and forward into futuristic technology. This incredible country has a diverse natural scenery so whether you're in the mood for an epic boat day in Phuket or an elephant hike in Chiang Mai they've got it all.

Of course, their capital city, Bangkok, is one of the most widely visited destinations in all of Asia. It's home to affordable street food, beautiful Buddhist temples, famous canal markets, and $10 massages. There is also a huge nightlife scene here so prepare to go out!

Speaking of taste, the food in Thailand is unbelievable. Pad Thai, mango sticky rice, and spicy curry are just a few of the mouthwatering dishes that dominate the food scene here.

And if that wasn't enough to convince you to visit wait till you hear about the white sand beaches and turquoise water. You could spend a month sailing without ever being tired of these views.

TIPS & TRICKS

What to Expect

LANGUAGE:

The official language of Thailand is Thai. However many locals speak English as it is one of the most widely visited tourist destinations in Southeast Asia.

SAFETY:

While Thailand is generally safe from violent crime, Bangkok in specific is known for its human trafficking. It is the number one red-light district in the world and while I never felt unsafe it’s important to be alert & aware, especially in the city center!

CREDIT CARDS/ATMS:

ATMs are easy to access in the major cities and airports and cards are accepted at convenience stores and more modern establishments.

CURRENCY:

The official currency of Thailand is a Thai Baht. Cash is still widely used here at markets, cafes, and for transportation & excursions. Highly suggest taking cash out beforehand.

Climate:

Thailand has a sub-tropical climate so it is hot and humid all year round. Temperatures creep into the hundreds in the summer time. It is common to experience at least one shower a day during their rainy season which is July-October.

Transportation:

Thailand is a huge country that requires a short domestic flight to get from one area to the next. They use an app called Grab that functions similarly to Uber and is the safest/easiest way to get around the cities. You can also ride in a tuk tuk but be sure to confirm the price beforehand!
