Makeup is definitely tricky in the summer time. I’m always finding myself stuck in the constant battle between wanting to even out my skin tone so my face isn’t three shades lighter than my body and wanting to leave my skin fresh, and makeup free to give it a break. I know I’m not the only one that feels this way too, so I figured today I would show you what makeup I have been wearing lately.
Before I begin I do want to point out that this is by no means my everyday makeup routine for the summer. Often times I will wear the basics (like this look minus a contour, highlight, and any eyeshadow at all) but for blogging days or times when I know, I’ll want to snap a few pictures with my friends I’ll throw on this look. Now let’s break it down.
To start off I’m applying a bit of the Lorac Pore Perfection Primer to my moisturized face. This step is super important in keeping my makeup in place all day. Today I am skipping foundation not only for a lightweight feel but because I don’t currently have a shade that would even remotely match the rest of my body. So instead, I’m applying the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer to my under eyes to cancel out any dark circles and on any redness I may have.
After blending the concealer out with my beauty blender I am taking the banana powder from my Anastasia Contour Kit and applying this to my under eyes. I am skipping powder all over my face today and going in with Younique Bronzer and applying this all over my face to really even out my skin tone to match my neck and arms. This stuff does have a bit of shine to it but it will leave you glowing! After, I am applying a bit of blush to brighten up the face a bit.
Moving on to the eyes I am beginning by applying my Urban Decay Primer Potion all over my lids to ensure that I have no creasing. I am then applying the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the color ‘Barely Branded’ to my lids as a base for the rest of my shadows.
I do not wear nearly as much eyeshadow in the summer as I do throughout the school year but if I do wear any at all I have been reaching for my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. It is beautiful and after applying the shade ‘Creme Brûlée’ to my lids my blue eyes really begin to pop! To add a bit of definition to the crease I am mixing the shades ‘Milk Chocolate’ and ‘Hazelnut’. To highlight my brow bone and inner corner I am using the shade ‘Champagne Truffle’.
For the brows, I am keeping things simple by penciling them in with the Maybelline Brow Precise Pencil for a natural look. For the lashes, I am taking a true summer essential- waterproof mascara. The Maybelline Cat Eyes one is perfect!
I am then going back in with the shade ‘Champagne Truffle’ from the Chocolate Bar palette and highlighting the tips of my cheek bones, cupids bow, and nose. To pull the look together I am applying one of my favorite NYX Mega-Shine glosses to complete the look.
Well, that’s my makeup routine for the few days I feel like actually leaving the house or am shooting blog pictures! What makeup have you been wearing this summer and what is your holy grail product? Be sure to let me know in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you all a very happy day! With love, McKenz

Very pretty. Perfect summer time look. xx
Thanks so much, Azra! Enjoy your day ?
Loving this look! I’m having the same struggle at the moment; do I leave my skin free to breathe (and catch a tan!) or do I do fun makeup looks? Your summer makeup is really pretty though; it may sound like a slightly odd compliment, but the colours you use really suit your hair shade xx
Aw thank you so much for the sweet comment! Funny that I scheduled this post today as I decided to leave my hair and face natural to soak up the rays. Thanks for stopping by ?
Gorgeous as usual! xx.
Thank you Kali ??
I love these soft bronze summer looks. I too struggle with wanting to wear makeup but wanting to let my skin breathe. Never ending struggle lol.
You look gorgeous doll. 🙂
