A couple of months ago I swore off blogging tags. Tags, awards, and anything of that sort for the sole fact that I no longer felt engaged when writing them and becuase I was beginning to feel they were unprofessional.
BUT, when reading my blogger babe Nicole’s tag and noticed that I was one of the nominee’s I knew I had to make an exception for this one. Plus, it’s felt like forever since we’ve actually had the chance to sit down and chat.
My reason for making the exception for Nicole is not just because she is one of my favorite bloggers and the most honest and humble lady but because her blog started around the 100 Happy Days campaign. Right before I started blogging I had just finished my own 100 Happy Days challenge which is one of the reasons I myself wanted to start blogging and create Weekly Wrap Up’s. Their original purpose was to share my outfit of the day and a picture of something that made me happy each day. Kind of like a continuation onto my 100 Happy Days.
Well as it turns out, Nicole’s story is SO similar to mine that the coincidence and knowingness of it all just made me anxious to answer these questions and to encourage you to go after your desires; especially if they have to do with starting a blog or the 100 Happy Days challenge!
What’s your favorite guilty pleasure food?
TACOS! I have a desire for Mexican food literally any time of any day. I live for Taco Tuesdays with a side of yellow rice, corn, and black beans. I have a Taco Tuesday shirt in the making currently… so if that doesn’t explain my love then what does??
Where do you get inspiration from for your blog and Instagram?
Inspiration, for me at least, either comes very easily or not at all. Mainly, I find inspiration in my old work. Digging deep and seeing how I acted in previous years, how I curated, how I styled, how my brain worked, works wonders for me! There is something so powerful for me about looking at my old habits that helps regenerate new and better ones + fresh, innovative ideas. I also will always steal some inspo from previous decades, my ‘saved’ section on Instagram (that I use religiously), and the bloggers whose posts I read every day.
If I’m not following you leave your info below! I’m always looking for more blogger babes to follow, love, and support.
*My favorite thing to do when coming across a blogers page. Go and read thier very first blog post and then their most recent. Note theri growth, their change, their actions. Something about that makes me feel giddy.
What goals (personally or blog related) do you have for the rest of 2017?
At the start of 2017 I made some pretty realistic goals but in the summer I was dreaming big. Therefore, at the rate I’m moving I wouldn’t expect even coming close to meeting my Summer 2017 goals that I talked about here because I realized I should have taken my circumstances into consideration. Like, where I would be over the summer, my day-to-day activities, etc. Although, I do really want to hit 10,000 views for the month of August to see some growth from last year. At this point, I am doing everything in power to grow, succeed, and get stronger in terms of blogging.
What is one song you know absolutely every word to?
Hm, this is so hard but if I’m being completely honest it’s definitely Crazier by Taylor Swift that was in Hannah Montana The Movie. And if you haven’t seen that movie what are you doing with your life???
What/where is something that makes you happiest?
Success makes me overwhelmingly happy. It’s things like long, thought out comments that I read in the middle of class that make me tear up, the sweet DM’s that come through my Instagram every once in a while, and the reminder that stats are so more than just numbers; they are real people. What could possibly feel more rewarding than knowing your passion is paying off?!
What is your favorite accessory/makeup product?
My favorite accessory is by far a watch. My wrist feels naked without one.
As far as makeup goes, my favorite product has to be the original Naked Palette. That palette is an OG in my makeup collection and has stuck by me through thick and thin… literally. I will never not love that palette and the memories it brings back to me make it that much better.
How did you start blogging, and has your main focus changed direction?
I’ve mentioned in tags before the beginning of my blogging journey but I suppose it won’t hurt to share it once more. Back in freshman year, I was desperate to find something to occupy my time and was feeling anxious about deciding what I wanted to be in life, who I wanted to be in life. When desiring a way to somehow combine photography, writing, fashion, makeup, and a way to continue my 100 Happy Days my mom came up with the idea of starting a blog. Although it
Although it has not necessarily answered the questions I initially desired to have answered, I truly do feel like I have more direction in life and that the path of the ‘future’ was made a bit clearer for me after starting my blog. I feel so honored to say that blogging has truly changed my life no matter how small my corner of the internet may seem to others. In many
I feel so honored to say that blogging has truly changed my life no matter how small my corner of the internet may seem to others. In many ways, my main focus has not changed direction but in many ways it has. 82 weeks later I am still posting a Weekly Wrap Up every Sunday and I have continued to always stick with an uploading schedule. Fashion is still my main focus yet in not so much of a relaxed way that it once was.
I feel as though I no longer want to create content for solely me but for others as well. I want to share with people what fashion means to me, that you are not just the makeup you wear and the money you have, and that you can be whoever you want to be.
Favorite sappy rom-com?
Hm… not sure I can think of a sappy rom-com but for romance definitely The Longest Ride and for comedy The Heat. Best movie ever though… Forest Gump for sure!!
What are your tips for time managing your life & a blog?
I wish I had some magic beans that could make balancing life and blogging easier but unfortunately, all I have is this- If you want to be consistent with your blog DO IT. If you want to manage both DO IT. If you want something bad enough you will make it work, you will find a way to make it work.
Excuses do not make things work, actions do.
Top 3 places on your travel bucket list!
So this question doesn’t specify if it as to be in the United States or not so I’m going to do a list for both.
As an east coast baby, I’ve always wanted to go across the country and see California. I know that the LA area is full of amazing opportunities and excitement so I’ve always felt it would be cool to visit someday. I also would love to see Chicago. I’ve never been but everyone always says it’s amazing and I sure do love the hustle and bustle of the city. It seems like it would be a fun trip.
Lastly, Alabama, wait or Texas???!! I haven’t really traveled down South either if I’m being honest so these two places seem like they would be so so much fun and amazing to see. Alabama would be my place to see a few colleges and just see what the atmosphere is like down there and my mom went to Texas this past year and just said so many amazing things about it that I would love the chance to go someday.
Out of the country though I would have to say Mexico, South Africa, and Italy. Mexico just seems so full of cultural experiences and because of Spanish class, I am even more intrigued by their way of life. I researched Africa for a school project last year and it just seemed so rich in experience and wild life that it would be a trip of a lifetime if I ever made it there. And then, Italy because in college my mom studied abroad there and it looks beautiful in the pictures.
Your mantra you live by (believe me, I don’t really have one either…lol, but it could be as easy as something you try to remember every day!)
I would’nt say I ‘live by’ this but I really love the saying ‘dreams don’t work unless you do’. Solely for the fact that it is true. With determination, hard work, and consistency you will get somewhere, I promise.
Okay, now that I’ve talked for five years I suppose it’s time to sign off and let you check out the other ladies’ answers.
Did you learn anything new about me today?! Be sure to let me know in the comments below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you all success in a huge abundance. With love, McKenz

You are so inspirational and talented. A breath of fresh air in my reader and on my IG feed. I, too, feel that blogging helped me establish a sense of self and a sense of future, honestly. I can’t imagine life without it!

Hehe someday! Thank you so much!! 🙂
I guilty food is nachos! I love melted cheese on nachos… 😛
I love watches too – I feel naked without one too! I know a lot of people these days don’t wear a watch because of their phone but I prefer a watch.
You definitely need to visit Chicago – one of my favourite American cities. I’m Canadian and biased but I think you would really like it here especially Toronto and Montreal. 😀
I enjoyed reading this. 🙂
Stashy, thanks so much for stopping by! I love watches but would love to get an Apple watch or something fun like that for a more modern version. And yes I def want to see Chicago soon! Hope you are doing well! Love from the US xox
Aww, thank you so much for the nomination girl! I loved your answers and I love your enthusiasm for blogging! You are genuine and a true breath of fresh air! And you’re right, if you want to make blogging a priority, you just do it! I also live for Taco Tuesdays and would love to visit Italy! I’ve been to LA, Chicago & Alabama. Chicago is easily my favorite of the 3; the deep dish pizza is truly divine! LA is fun to visit, the food is amazing and the weather is just right! And Alabama is nice…there is definitely less to do than the other two..but the football is great :)…I would definitely hit up Texas, it seems like a dream!
Oh, Britte! How sweet are you?!! Thank you so so very much! You are one of the reasons I love what I do so very much!!! And I am SO jealous of all the places you’ve been!!! Hopefully one day I’ll come back to this blog and be able to tell you about the times I went there in the future :,)

I love this post McKenzie! All your answers were so truthful and I could tell you put thought into them. I’m normally the same way about tags (unprofessional, not my thing, etc.), but this one for some reason IS different. All the questions you asked to the people you tagged are so great and thought out, and I know I will have a blast answering them! Thanks for tagging me girly and good luck on 10,000 views this month. I have no doubt you will reach that and more 🙂
Olivia, you are too sweet to me girl! Thank you so so much, so glad you liked reading my book long answers lol. I truly hope you do go ahead and answer the questions and pass it on!! Hope you are having a fabulous day xox
