Unless you’re living under a rock in terms of the fashion world, I’m sure you’re aware that New York just wrapped up their second annual Fashion Week of the year. Designers of all types and models of various shapes and sizes lined the runways to showcase the latest pieces and show the real world what to expect this coming Spring.
If you’re like me and weren’t one of the hundreds of bloggers, designers, celebrities, or reporters that were able to watch the marvelous works of art make their way down the aisles, then don’t fret because I’ve been keeping up to date from the sidelines as best as possible.
After looking through and analyzing literally thousands of pictures from the runways and the streets from this past week I have quickly realized what trends for the upcoming seasons I myself will be seen in, and which I wouldn’t dare wear out. I am so beyond excited to see how stores revamp these styles and what celebs + bloggers will be pulling them directly from the runway.

As far as looks from the runway go… here’s my breakdown!
- Sequins and glitter were spotted in so many collections, I cannot even keep track! This trend is fun and I feel like will nicely filter down into retail stores without being too bombarding or dramatic. In terms of clothing for going out, dances, etc. I can totally see myself loving this trend!
- Dramatic bell bottoms and all the seventies vibes are making their way back in full force. With the seventies being my absolute favorite decade as far as fashion goes and a current obsession with flares, I feel as though I am going to totally be loving these two trends.
- We’ve seen the off the shoulder trend for a few seasons now and instead of nixing it all together it looks like accenting one shoulder of the top is going to be huge. I’m not completely in love with this idea, but done right I feel like it could be a total hit!
- Yellow has been all the rage this Fall and apparently will be continuing on into the Springtime along with lavender!? Lavender isn’t necessarily my color of choice, but canary yellow!?!!! You bet your bottom dollar I am there for this one.
- Tassels, tassels, tassels… they are here to stay for a while longer! Oh, and did I mention fringe?! I can totally see fringe meshing its way into the seventies vibes which I am so down for!
- Tiered ruffles were spotted everywhere. Something about this trend moves so beautifully to me down the runway and looks so elegant when done right. I cannot wait for this to be a thing!
- And lastly, for the clothing is an animal print. I love snakeskin and cheetah but with zebra thrown into the mix, I’m not sure I’m in love anymore.
- Platform everything is making its way into this year’s stores and I could not be more excited. The more I see this trend the more it grows on me. Some people can pull off platforms so well and you bet, this Spring I’m going to try this trend out for myself!
- Translucent heels and the block heel are on the rise again as far as our heels go. These are such a comfortable and wearable everyday height that I feel like these filter down into retail stores so effortlessly.
- Lastly, for my not so favorite shoe spottings- slouchy over the knee boots and cowboy boots?? I suppose certain people could pull both of these off but most certainly not me, lol!
As far as looks from the street go… here’s my breakdown!
- Ring purses are so rad and fun! I want to hop on this bandwagon but am afraid it will be a trend that dies fairly quickly.
- Statement earrings are my current craving at the moment; however, I don’t have my ears pierced so I cannot join in on the fun here! (If anyone knows where to find any cute clip-ons let me know!!!)
- Translucent/vintage glasses were the hugest spotting for me this year and all props to those that pulled them off. Faux glasses are so fun and instantly give off that cool girl vibe in my opinion, so this was by far a two thumbs up for me.
- And of course, last but certainly not least, hats! They have been all the rage the last few seasons and I love them. Hats are so unique and instantly add so much character to an outfit; when done right, these are a total win in my eyes.
As more and more Fashion Week’s roll by, I am reminded so much of why I love the fashion industry and clothing so much. What speaks to me may not to others and vice versa and that is so thrilling. Fashion is art, expression, and movement yet so much more and it is absolutely incredible to watch certain designer’s pieces make their way down the runway. Fashion is so different from it was even twenty years ago in a way where no longer do we have people afraid to express themselves. Designers are bolder and the buyers are craving newer, different things that are unique to their own styles and that my friends, is mind-blowing to me!
I hope you all enjoyed my review from the sidelines. Be sure to let me know what trends you spotted + loved from NYFW along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Wishing you all a fabulous day. With love, McKenz

Fashion is by far one of the most coolest industries. It blows my mind that such a small select group of people will approve one or two things they like for the forthcoming season and then the whole world ends up running with it. Your rundown was definitely a great overview; some of the things that I’m meh about like also zebra print (ehh) and others I’m wide-eyed over like the one shoulder tops! Can’t wait to see what trends end up making their debut!
