Five pieces of clothing, five different outfits. It’s really that simple my friends. Five pieces are all you need for outfits that are versatile, different, and oh so cute.
You all know that I am a huge fan of experimenting with capsule wardrobes. I’ve done the 10X10 a couple of times but I decided to try out the 5X5 to see how it went. I think this is the perfect capsule to travel with for a weekend. It allows for options without too much limitation and yet it keeps things straight to the point. Not to mention, five pieces can fit in a backpack- these pieces take up hardly any space.
Below are the five pieces I chose to style today. Depending on where you live, these may or not be suitable for your current climate but I wanted to pick pieces that felt spring-ish. My only concern, if you were using this when traveling, would be footwear. I chose a pair of short black heels simply because I am comfortable walking in these. However, after the third mile, I would be more prone to choose a sneaker. If you’re someone who is like that I would totally go for a pair of Vans or even bring an extra pair of shoes if your carry-on allows for it.

Technically you’re allowed unlimited accessories but I kept things minimal with two ‘statement’ accessories- a blush pink hat from Walmart and my current favorite, light pink crossbody from Old Navy. As for jewelry I stuck with my DKNY watch, a wrap bracelet from a random boutique, and my Kendra Scott necklace.
1) This look is perfect for a day exploring. A turtleneck is your best option if you’re headed out early and it’s still a bit chilly out, yet white jeans keep the look screaming spring. Black block heels are the perfect sleek shoe for the look and a fun floppy hat is obviously necessary for keeping the sun out of your eyes.

2) No matter where you may be going, a little black dress is always a good piece to have. Whether you’re dressing it up or down, you are sure to look fabulous and put together. A light pink crossbody is the perfect accessory to add some color to the look.

3) A denim mini is my favorite way to show a little sass + they are a spring must have when it comes to clothing. Paired with a chunkier sweater, the contrast is perfect and a heel is sure to elongate those legs!

4) Yes, yes, yes is all I have to say about this look. In order to maximize my five pieces, I’m layering my denim mini right over this black dress. It looks super cute and is, of course, practical! The hat gives off sunny vibes, and when all together this look definitely takes the cake of my favorites.

5) Black and white are a classic if you’re not sure what to wear. Sometimes you just cannot deny the basics. The best part about this capsule is you can spice things up or you can things simple like I did for this look! Perfect for that Sunday stroll.
