June, how have we met so soon?! May was such a wild ride and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Although, I truly could not be happier for June because school will soon be over (my last day is the fifteenth) and that means all the time in the world to get back on my blogging grind and start reestablishing those good habits! Before I ramble any longer, let’s get chatting about life lately and all my monthly favorites.
May was such a summer tease. There was tons of rain, don’t get me wrong, but the days when it was sunny it was hot, humid, and the sun was baking. I’m not complaining, I’ll take the sun over the cold any day. Thankfully, this weather reflected on my wardrobe options. I wore tons of dresses along with fun sandals/heels to add a little pizazz. This yellow two piece set was one of my favorites and I wore Jacks like crazy, they are just the easiest shoe to throw on and go.
I wore lots of jewelry as well which was different for me. I purchased a new Kendra and wore my clip-on earrings a ton. Not to mention the cute gold cuff I bought from Target to wear on Prom night, it has been the most perfect accessory for my spring/summer outfits.
This month I was introduced to the Evian water setting spray and I have loved it. I’m not sure it keeps my makeup on any longer than if I hadn’t been wearing it but it definitely keeps my face feeling refreshed and hydrated. That stale, powdery look diminishes as soon as you spray this; I love it! I also have been using the blush side of the Nars ‘Orgasm’ Blush/Bronzer Dup this month. It is such a stunning pink shade and leaves my face looking so awake and refreshed! My last favorite is the Buxom Full On Lipstick in the shade ‘Brooklyn’. I had strayed away from this shade for a long time simply because I was more into lighter pinks but the warm shade of this one has been my favorite lately. Still keeping thing simple, glowy, and fast!
If I’m being honest with not only you but myself, I have been terrible about reading the Bible this month. I have pushed away this aspect of my nightly routine and I am really sad about it. However, when I have picked up my Bible I have been reading passages from Isaiah. I haven’t been completely terrible, I have continued praying and have made it to church but I’m hoping that June will bring me a motivation and calling to move closer to God and return back to my Biblical routines each night.
I’m still watching Friends! I know I know, it’s taking me forever but only because I’ve been so darn busy with life. I also took a short break to watch 13 Reasons Why Season 2. I know that this has extremely controversial thoughts and such but I really enjoyed it. I think that the goal of the show is to inform and I feel it does that, I hope that they come back with a Season 3 for this one.
I have neglected reading this month because studying has consumed me but I know that summer will bring me lots of lounging around time; therefore, if you have any good book ideas for me, be sure to leave them below!
May didn’t go exactly as I had planned. My head was in the right place but the rest of me… I really wanted May to be a banging month for me here on the blog but it just wasn’t. My views were down and so was my engagement. My posting was not it’s normal- studying, the weather, and quite honestly, my social life all consumed my time and kept me from this aspect of life which saddens me. However, I’m trying to remind myself that it is okay, for missing out on this wonderful season of life would be so deeply regretted later on.
However, June brings summer and with summer comes my styled by grind! I cannot wait to have free time and endless hours of sun so I can come back at full force. I plan on posting lots more while preparing for the few weeks I will be traveling in July. I want to grow in all aspects, whether it be through numbers or simply through content. With hard work, dedication, and a passion that is still enrooted in my heart, I know that I can turn things around and make June the best blogging month of the year (so far!). Oh, and before I forget, I also want to make a few physical changes to the blog- nothing big but I do want to change up a few categories + add some fun shoppable links and such. Stay tuned, I know that once school gets out I will have lots of time to devote to this.
May treated me oh so well, as it tends to when you’re a May baby. The beginning of the month began with our baseball season winding down. We ended our regular season 15-2, had a by week, and then lost early on in the playoffs which was heart breaking to say the least- it was the end of an amazing era!
In the midst of those busy weeks of baseball were AP exams which consumed my freedom in its entirety. Studying whenever and wherever I was left more than prepared for my AP English Language, AP World History, and AP Art History exams. The school year has significantly winded down since then, but unfortunately we won’t get that summer freedom until June 15. My seniors are officially gone but I spent a lot of May appreciating the time we had left with one another before they left school- there’s something so special about having friends that make leaving so hard.
My birthday rolled around and I turned seventeen! Sixteen was the best year so I have pretty high hopes for this one. I was able to spend lots of time with my family which always warms my heart and received the sweetest gifts, especially from my parents. Oh, they too celebrated- not their birthday, obviously, but nineteen wonderful years of marriage.
June is looking busy in my favorite way, of course. Getting back on track with blogging while managing the summer baseball team, getting back into shape for cheer season, and preparing for my upcoming travels. I couldn’t be happier and have really felt thankful for this season of life.
May was so good to me (besides all the rain which prevented lots of blog posts from happening!) and I couldn’t be more grateful. What was the highlight of your month?! Be sure to let me know below along with any other questions, comments, or requests you may have for me. Here’s to an amazing month and an even better June! With love, McKenz
