Friday, May 17, was my Senior Prom and what a fantastic night it was! I asked via my Instagram stories if you all wanted to see a Get Ready With Me from the night and 95% of you said yes. However, without GB around this year and my sister obviously getting ready as well, I wasn’t able to snap any photos of me actually getting ready. So today I’m switching things up and sharing a before and after as well as a step by step rundown of the products I used.
I’m also revealing which dress I ended up going with and sharing tons of photos of Connor and I as well as some with my family and Madison! I hope you’re as excited as me… lets start recapping the perfect night!
Not much to say here other than I was looking real rough before hand! Thanks to exams and the craziest last few weeks my skin definitely has not been looking its best. Although I didn’t have any breakouts, I did have quite a bit of redness from previous ones that were easily coverable!
For hair, I kept things simple with a wide barrel curling iron and used the Not Your Mothers Teasing Powder to give my roots some volume. I used a ton of the Got2B Glued Blasting Freeze Spray but unfortuantely my hair still managed to fall a bit as it was so humid out!
I hadn’t really planned anything for my makeup so upon getting ready, I decided to just go with my usual. I started off with the Becca Backlight Priming Filter to prime my skin. I then used my old favorite, the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation and applied this all over making sure to blend down my neck. It was the perfect color with my spray tan. I set the foundation with my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. For the undereyes I went ahead and used the LA Pro Concealer and blended this out to brighten up that area. I set this with my holy grail banana powder from the Anastasia Contour Kit.
I went in with my Real Her Blush Kit and used the shade ‘Unstoppable‘ on my cheeks. I then contoured as usual with my Anastasia Contour Kit and made sure to get my nose! I went ham with the Wet N Wild Highlighter in the shade ‘Precious Petals’, wetting my brush with Mac Fix Plus before applying. I made sure to get the high points of my cheeks, my brow bone, inner corner, tip of nose, and cupids bow.
For eyeshadow I started with both the Urban Decay Primer Potion and the Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade ‘Barely Branded’ to keep my shadows in place all night. Wetting my brush with Mac Fix Plus and using a few shadows from the Morphe 9B palette created the perfect subtle eye look. I filled my brows in with the Maybelline Brow Tattoo.
For the lashes I wore my go-to Ardel Whispies ‘105’ and blended my falsies in with my real lashes using the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. A bit of Elf Liquid Eyeliner perfectly connected my inner corner to the lash band. I finished off the look with a Buxom Full On Lipstick and a few sprits of the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
I cannot even begin to explain how many questions I have gotten leading up to Prom about which dress I would choose! Despite having so many beautiful ones to choose from, this Terani Couture white lace two piece was my top choice. I got endless compliments on it throughout the night and quite a few people thinking I was wearing a wedding dress— that’s seriously how gorgeous it is in person.
You’ll see it in action in all of the photos below but I didn’t take too many pictures of just me or with the gown as the sole focus, so here are a few from the post I did with Terani so you can grab a closer look at the dress.
In last years Prom post, I didn’t share too too many photos. Decided I want to spam you with all of them this year because that’s how much I love them. Hope you don’t mind! Here we go….
Holy cow this is the most good looking photo I’ve ever seen in my life. I may or may not be biased.
Putting the flowers on— Con clearly terrified I’m going to stab him…
Flowers are on!
Madison ended up wearing the red that you all loved so much.

🙂 For Andy.
Best for last. Cover material?!?!
I was absolutley obsessed with the white Terani dress but with the stunning tulle train, I was really nervous that it would be stepped on the entire night— getting super dirty and possibly ripping. Because I had so many dress options lying around from all of my collaborations, I decided to change before heading to the dance itself. I was so glad I ended up changing and savored the pretty white! Here I am wearing the glitter mermaid dress from Blush Prom.
not the best photos but we tried
After dinner, Connor and I found a tiny boutique downtown where I asked to borrow their dressing room to change. Everyone was so friendly and willing to help. We had two different strangers snap a photo of the two of us in my new look. They didn’t turn out great for obvious reasons but I’m so glad we have the moment captured on camera!
Thought it might be fun to include some of our photos from last years prom for a little trip down memory lane. I think the year has done us both some good; what do you think?! If you want to check out my Junior Prom Get Ready With Me, click here to read.
Well, that’s going to be a wrap for my Senior Prom Recap. It was a fantastic night and I’m so grateful Connor could come back for round two with me. We had a blast and so appreciate all the sweet comments we got from strangers the night of and you all as I have shared these photos! It’s hard to believe this was my last Get Ready With Me for a highschool dance… where have the years gone?!?! Thanks for sticking with me, y’all.
With love, McKenz
