Valentine’s Day Outfit Inspo

Coming at you live from the middle seat of my second flight of the day. If you’ve been following me along via Instagram stories (@styledbymckenz) you would know I’ve had quite the day traveling to New York City for my first-ever New York Fashion Week. It’s been the craziest, most emotionally draining day but as every blogger has warned me, no day in New York City ever goes quite as planned. 

Anywho, if you couldn’t tell by now, this blog post is pre-written. Well, as pre-written as twelve hours before it goes live goes. Regardless, I shot these looks while at school earlier this week. It was a gorgeous sunny and fifty-degree day (a rare occurrence in Ohio) so naturally, my roomie Olivia and I ventured out to get some content shot. Although I will be spending Valentine’s Day alone in bed eating gummy bears if I did have a hot date, one of these outfits would surely be perfect for the occasion. Today I’m sharing three looks to give you some last-minute inspo— feel free to rock them on your fancy dinner out or to class because you feel like being extra. Either’s fine, the world is your ~runway~. 

Red Dressed 

For those of you who don’t know, I am an Alpha Phi at Kent State. We have our biggest philanthropy event of the year, Red Dress Gala, coming up in just a few weeks and I picked this dress up for it. However, it’s just the cutest thing ever that I felt like it would only be fitting to include it in these Valentine’s Day looks too. This dress is the cutest off the shoulder. I love the fit of it as it’s not a full on bodycon thanks to the dainty little peplum ruffle along the bottom. However, it’s got just enough shape to flatter your figure. Slip-on a pair of heels and you’ve completed your look. I’d throw on a bit of faux fur to keep me warm at night. Not sure how fancy your date night is, but I’m always overdressed anyway.

Midi Skirt Moment

If you’re not feeling the whole pink and red, cutesy Valentine’s Day colors, go for some neutrals with just a subtle pop of color. I love me a midi skirt, especially when it’s an animal print like this one. Paired with a black bodysuit and some sheer black leopard socks you’ve got a trendy, unexpected outfit combination. I know this shoes and socks combo isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but with fashion week on my mind, I’ve been in the mood for a bit of experimenting lately. These shoes are everything. Neons are so big right now and these thick chunky heels make these shoes manageable and this look oh so fun.

All Tied Up 

I know the last two looks were definitely on the dressier side so I wanted to provide an option that was a bit more scaled back. This red top is so so sleek and sexy. With a bit of satin paired with high waisted black denim, you’ve got some fun texture mixing going on. This top has got a super low, flattering cut to it and would be adorable with a black bralette underneath as well. I felt the look needed just a little bit of height so I reached for white heeled booties and a matching belt to tie the look together. I’m cheesy and felt the need for something a little Valentines-esque. These heart-shaped earrings were the perfect finishing touch.

Regardless of where you’re headed this Valentine’s Day, you’re sure to do it in style when sporting one of these cute looks.
