Admittedly, the color brown takes me straight back to my elementary school picture days—matching Madison in our hot new Gap arrivals. Sigh, the good ole days. The truth is, I never thought I’d see the day where I was ~excited~ to wear the hue again but Tik Tok has convinced me (yet again) to give this trend a try.
I can’t lie, retailers everywhere are releasing their winter to spring transitional lines that are chock full of chocolate brown and they are kind of killing the game. I was swooning over a few SheIn pieces myself and obviously couldn’t resist—hence the reason for today’s blog post. Today I’m sharing three ways to wear the color brown this season. If nothing else, I hope this blog post gives you a little 2000’s nostalgia, lol.
I’ve got a big puffer coat obsession these days so when I saw a chocolate brown one I knew it was a matchmade in heaven. This baby is selling fast so grab it from SheIn while it’s still in stock. You can use my code Q4mckenz15 for 15% off your entire purchase too! I’m wearing a small and love the fit of it; it’s got just enough puff for everyday wear!
I’m keeping the rest of my look rather simple, layering a white long sleeve underneath. I’ll admit, I’m not one to rewear outfits too often, but I’ve worn this basic white tee three times in the last week and this full outfit just days ago. I’m a huge fan of the tiny top + baggy jeans combo. These bottoms are also from SheIn and are a favorite of mine and many of you!
I shared these to the blog a few months ago and dozens of you have purchased them since. They’ve got a relaxed fit in the waist with just a few rips along the knees. Straight leg jeans look amazing with platform sneakers so I slipped into my all time favorite white Converse! Pop on a few gold accessories to complete the look and you’re good to go.

Well I know not everyone has a purpose for a dress these days but this piece was too cute not to share. If you’re looking for a good winter wedding guest dress, this one would be perfect for the occasion. It’s got a classic fit with ruched cups and a bustier neckline that’s incredibly flattering. Of course no piece of mine would be complete without big bishop sleeves. I love a good statement sleeve and these did not disappoint!
Chocolate brown looks incredible when paired with nude accents. So, for shoes I slipped on a pair of lace-up heels from Lulus. These are one of my favorite pairs as they have a super manageable heel making them very comfy! I added a pair of butterfly earrings to match.

Of course chocolate isn’t the only shade of brown that’s making an appearance this season. I’ve been grabbing plenty of tan pieces as well! This flannel is my latest addition and I am obsessed. I have this flannel in another pattern and it’s without a doubt one of the most worn pieces in my closet.
It’s super soft and just the right amount of oversized so it looks awesome buttoned up, or worn open with a solid black tee layered underneath. I highly recommend grabbing this flannel in *at least* one of the color options. I wanted to keep things monochromatic so black skinny jeans it was.
As for shoes, I’ve been seeing these tall combat Chelsea boots all over my Pinterest feed and had to give them a go. They couldn’t be further outside of my comfort zone and yet I’m obsessed with how they pulled this outfit together. They run a little big, so if you’re in between sizes I recommend going down. My favorite crossbody purse was also just released in a shade of brown so naturally I grabbed it. This three piece bag is not only super cute but it’s incredibly functional and fits all of the necessities. I rave about it in practically every blog post because it’s just that good (and only $15!).

I have no doubt I’ll be picking up more brown pieces as the year rolls on… I swear Tik Tok can convince me to try just about anything at this point, lol. Are you the same way? Even as an influencer I find myself being influenced by others! Well, that’s a wrap for today’s brown outfit ideas. I hope they weren’t too bland and that they inspired you to step out of your color comfort zone this season. Talk soon!
With love, McKenz
