Is anyone else in utter *disbelief* that February is already coming to an end?! It seriously feels like the month just started yesterday and yet here we are just days away from the one year anniversary of quarantine/online school life! If you’re new around here—welcome to my favorite posts of the month.
If I’m being honest, I know not many people click into favorites these days but I like to think of these as more of a monthly recap. I cover everything from favorite outfits to songs I can’t stop screaming in the car to moments that made me cry at the bottom of my shower. I’m real I’m raw and I’m here to remind you that life isn’t always what it looks like on the outside. If you’ve missed out on my month of February, no worries. Get comfy—we’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
My outfit of the days have been as casual and redundant as ever this month. My mail supply has been much slower than normal these last few weeks which has forced me to get a little creative in my closet. I spend 90% of my time cooped up inside working on my computer so the comfier the better these days. I’ve been wearing these basic high neck tanks from Forever 21 like crazy. They are so flattering and double lined makeing them the perfect option with joggers, jeans, or even leggings. With a shacket or flannel layered over top, you’ve got a cute outfit in no time.
I’ve loved on these asymmetrical waist jeans a ton and my Spanx leather leggings have been on repeat. I can’t seem to stop wearing my Converse and this black crossbody from Romwe is literally attached at my hip. It is hands down the most convenient bag I’ve ever carried. I’ve also worn my fair share of matching sweat sets from Whitefox Boutique—they have the world’s best joggers. Thank me later! I don’t think I’ve worn a single color the entire month… white, black, and tan have slowly taken over my closet.
I find February/March to be the worst time of year to take blog photos. It’s cold, dreary, and always snowy here in Ohio so in turn, I find myself far less creative with my content. I didn’t have nearly as many photoshoots this month as I would have liked and yet there were still some super cute looks that deserve their moment.
You may recognize a few of these from earlier this week. I’ve started cranking out the spring content despite it being twenty degrees outside. I just can’t seem to muster up the motivation to style another parka and boots, lol. I am so ready for dresses and sandals! I did however have a ton of fun shooting some new Forever 21 pieces earlier this month and have been hooked on these ripped mom jeans from Lulus. I can’t forget my black jeans either—I’ve got a gazillion different pairs and they’ve all been go-tos in my closet regardless of the occasion.
I’ve been wearing the same ole same ole products all month long but I do have to give a special shoutout to my Loreal Lash Paradise Primer + Mascara duo. I typically buy the two products together in a combo back and although I’ve gone through about five of them now, I swear my current tubes are infused with some sort of magic. My natural lashes have never looked better or longer and I’ve found myself skipping out on falsies more than ever. Which if you know me, is so unlike me lol.
I’m definitely not a big binge-watcher when it comes to TV but I crave a weekly episode this time of year. All American is finally back on actual TV and I’ve been watching each week as I wind down. Other than that I haven’t spent more than five minutes watching anything—I have been on the biggest music kick this month and have been adding to my Spotify playlists quite a bit. You can follow me here if you’re interested although I wouldn’t consider my music taste anything special, lol.

My big goal for February was 40K on YouTube and I hit it just a week or so into the month. I like to celebrate the “tens” and had a few of my friends over on a random Wednesday night to eat cookie cake with me and share this special milestone. I am so grateful for the best support system and for friends that make Kent feel like a true home away from home. I’m currently sitting with just over 42,000 subscribers and am eager to see what’s in store for March.
I have to admit, my Insta game wasn’t any higher in the month of February than it was in January—although I did hit 17.5K which was the goal I set for myself at the end of last month. My blog views came in strong and financially, even for a shorter month, I surpassed my sales and ad revenue expectations.
I was a little unsure if I’d be able to keep up with my posting schedule here on the blog due to a chaotic schedule this semester but I settled in just fine. I have however been uploading my posts much later than I’d like—usually I’m a morning typer but these days the evening is the only time I can get away to write. I’ll admit I’ve really struggled when it comes to taking photos for the blog these past few weeks—not only was the weather *brutally* cold most of the month but my friends (aka photographers) have definitely been busier too.
A really huge goal of mine is to reach 50K on YouTube before the end of the semester. If I’m being honest, it’s a pretty lofty goal but after starting the year on such a positive note, it’s one that I’ve been keeping in the back of mind. There’s nothing I’d love more than to celebrate such a huge milestone surrounded by my Kent besties. That being said, I really need to hit 45K this month to stay on track. Truthfully, I don’t know if it will happen as I have definitely seen a decline in my growth the last two weeks or so but we shall see.
I’ve realized more than ever this month that I really do speak almost everything into existence—both good and bad. And it’s true what they say, your thoughts dictate everything. So, rather than telling myself I *can’t* I’m going to start telling myself I *can*. I’ve also been feeling extremely uninspired when it comes to creating content for the blog. I’m not sure why but I plan on doing a series of polls/question boxes over the next few days and would love if you gave me some feedback to help me plan content for the month of March!
Other March goals include 18K on Instagram, trying to get back into the groove on Tik Tok, and starting to pitch brands for an upcoming spring break trip. I’m dying to get my toes in the sand and am manifesting my first sponsored trip so hard right now. I shall keep you posted on how that process goes. March tends to be my toughest/least favorite month of the year so more than anything I’m just hoping to make it through, LOL!
I was hoping that February would be a little less chaotic than January and in some ways it was. Unfortunately, in others, it was just as cray cray! I’ll admit the first few weeks of the semester were a little rough for me. As excited as I was to get back to campus and see my friends, I was having a harder time settling into my spring semester classes than I intended. Thankfully by week four, I got my sh!t together and fell into a routine. I can’t say I’m ~in love~ with my classes but they are definitely growing on me as I’ve spent many long days in the study room taking notes, listening to lectures, and writing up a storm.
In January I took it upon myself to make a list of 25 restaurants in Kent to try this semester. I never thought I’d get through the list but between Mike, my littles, and a few other random outings I’ve managed to check off a third of it just like that! I’m trying to be a little more “in the moment” and am encouraging myself to really soak up these college years. It’s true what they say—you don’t get this time back. No use working my booty off if I don’t get to enjoy the reward a little bit.
Lent started a few weeks ago and I decided rather than giving something up to start reinforcing a habit. So, each night before bed I’ve been spending time journaling. Some days about stupid boys, other days about my dreams. Some days about everything, other days about nothing. I had a rough January and had been playing back and forth mind games with myself for weeks. Thankfully going back to my roots and simply writing it out has been working wonders for me. Makes me wonder why I ever stopped writing so often. This really is my calling.
Baseball started last week and tomorrow marks the first home game of the season. Sadly there are no fans allowed but I will be enjoying live stream from the comfort (and warmth) of my bed. We’re wrapping up our sororities virtual philanthropy season right now and in just a few minutes I’ll be off to watch our King of Hearts competition that helps raise money for Woman’s Heart Health. We still have our Red Dress Gala in March but other than that the year is winding down. It’s crazy to think it’s been almost a year since we were sent home due to COVID…. makes you wonder what our world will look like this time next year!
With love, McKenz
