We’ve officially reached the halfway mark of my study abroad semester… I know I say it all the time but wow, I wish time would slow down! Enjoying this season of life so much—constantly getting to see new cities and explore with my best friends. It’s been exhausting but man has it been exhilarating!
This “school week” looked a little different as our school took us on a three-day field trip to Milan, Italy to visit different factories, explore the city, and hear from different guest speakers. It’s hard not to like it here—after all, Milan is the fashion capital of the world.
We were supposed to spend the weekend in London but an air traffic control strike kept that from happening so I was able to spend some much-needed time resting and recharging from the comfort of my Florence home. Honestly, I’m grateful we had the downtime! Ready to get back after it this week…
With love, McKenz

Off to Milan bright and early this morning… well actually Lake Como. Our group had two factory visits in the area where we were able to preview LV, Dior, and Versace’s Winter 2023 fabrics. It was so cool! We had a yummy lunch outside the duomo before heading back into the city to check into our hostel.

Starting our day bright and early with an art exhibition followed by a huge block of free time. The girls and I explored the duomo, ate an amazing lunch at a local pizzeria, and did a little bit of shopping. We regrouped and finished our school day with a trip to the Armani museum which was gorgeous. Grabbed drinks and tacos with some friends to finish off another fun day!

Spent the morning at a three-hour sustainable fashion seminar followed by lots of free time. The girls and I took some photos and found an incredible Mexican sushi place that had the best shrimp tacos! We grabbed postcards and gelato before meeting back up with the school for a sustainable shopping tour where we checked out all kinds of local boutiques + got to chat with the owners!

We were supposed to be off to London this morning but after two canceled flights and a nationwide ATC strike we weren’t able to make it happen. Instead, we got Mcdonald’s and hopped on a train back to Florence for the weekend.

As sad as I am to be missing out on our London trip, I can’t tell you how good it felt to just sit today. There hasn’t been one day since moving here that I’ve been able to sit in bed and laze around all day. I was so happy to finally have the chance to do so. I caught up on some YouTube videos, wrote a few blog posts, and scrolled on Tik Tok for hours.

Olivia and I made it out of the house this morning in time for an adorable lunch at a place called Habitat. This chic restaurant had the cutest flower ceiling and amazing food. We split hazelnut pancaked, their avocado chicken board, and some sushi. Get their Rossini it was to die for! Spent the afternoon in good ole “Sunday reset” mode—grocery shopping, doing laundry, washing my hair, painting my nails, and more.
