Nestled along the stunning Gulf Coast of Florida is 30A, a picture-perfect 24-mile stretch of coastline. Known for its pristine white sand beaches, charming beach towns, and million-dollar European-inspired architecture, this area boasts its own unique vibe.
30A is located in the panhandle of Florida with an upscale atmosphere that attracts many Southerners as it’s just a short drive from bordering states, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.
Doubling in popularity each year, I was dying to explore this Instagram-worthy area so roadtripping this way for spring break was a no-brainer.
Today I’m breaking down our full itinerary so you can make the most of your visit. From delicious restaurant recommendations to packing essentials to must-see attractions, this travel guide is packed full of information to ensure your 30A adventure is nothing less than spectacular.
We visited 30A at the end of March and it was utter chaos as it was peak spring break time (also known as the start of their high season). Because this area of Florida does experience a chilly winter, they do experience an off-season. Best to visit from May to August if you’re looking to soak up warm beach days and really enjoy that crystal-clear water.
*Important to Note: Temperatures do drop here so unless you’re visiting in the summer make sure you pack accordingly. A pair of jeans, a denim jacket, a sweater, and a few linen layers will be needed!
I was shocked to find that 30A had its own unique cuisine. Because it borders so many true southern states and is an area full of transplants the menus are full of southern comfort food. Expect to see lots of seafood, farm-to-table meals, grits, fried green tomatoes, and coastal deserts. Key lime pie and coconut cake are favorites here!
There are so many restaurants to choose from in this area with a range of vibes (casual beach bar to the upscale waterfront)— here are just a few of my recommendations!

This stunning waterfront restaurant had an upscale, coastal chic feel to it that I was obsessed with. They have one of the best cocktail menus in 30A— highly suggest the Strawberry Spritz and the Key Lime Martini.
Had an amazing filet while enjoying the sunset. Don’t pass on their key lime pie—it was to die for.

This restaurant started in 1982 and is now a popular destination for families. Known for its large seafood menu, live alligator exhibits, and world-famous Comfort Colors Tee, it’s the perfect family-friendly spot.
It’s more than just a meal, it’s an experience. They have award-winning shrimp and grits and a huge boozy drink menu full of fun options! We had a blast here.

I love a good hotel restaurant and Ovide in our hotel was amazing. We went for breakfast and dinner and it blew me away both times. At breakfast, I had some of the best avocado toast I’ve ever had topped with pickled onions, red pepper flakes, feta cheese, and the most flavorful bacon.
The dinner menu was full of traditional southern dishes with a coastal twist. Their shrimp & grits were amazing.

This place is a Rosemary Beach icon for a reason— not only is the pink and white atmosphere so Insta-worthy but the food is incredible. Their bacon egg and cheese sandwich is served on a moist cheddar biscuit that’s mouth-watering.

Whether you’re looking for a specialty coffee, a fresh pastry, or a yummy breakfast sandwich Black Bear is sure to exceed your expectations. They have a few locations and they are always hopping since it’s a local favorite spot!
One thing about 30A is that there are almost no hotels in the area. Everything is a huge Airbnb rental that starts at upwards of $6,000 for a week-long stay. If you’re traveling as a pair, your best bet is to stay a little further from the action and drive into the area.
We booked a stay at Hotel Effie in Sandestin, which was about 20 minutes outside of 30A, and had the most amazing stay. This upscale hotel is in the midst of a gated community + nestled along a huge golf course.
With chic furnishings, inner coastal views, and vibrant local artwork this hotel is truly stunning. We stayed in one of their Double Queen rooms and it was huge. The beds were super comfortable and our view was amazing.
Can we take a moment for the bathroom too?! It was my dream setup— a huge mirror, all-around lighting, a large countertop, and a walk-in shower (with a door!). It was the happiest I’ve been with a hotel bathroom in years.
Hotel Effie is a part of The Wharf which is a collection of 20+ restaurants, bars, and stores for guests and visitors alike. It’s considered the central hub of the area and is so much fun. If you’re a twenty-something looking for a safe place to enjoy a rum runner with a side of live music, this is the place.
It gives clean Key West vibes, haha. This area hosts seasonal events, concerts, and festivals providing guests with endless entertainment. Even if you’re not staying at the resort, it’s so worth a trip in.
Hotel Effie is more than just a hotel, it’s a coastal retreat for those looking to relax. I hit the spa and got their massage of the month and it was incredible. An hour-long oasis starting with the feet and ending with hot stones on the back.
They are partnered with Oveda which is some of my favorite skincare on the market. They offer all kinds of treatments from massages to manicures.— browse all services here.
This property is just a short way to the beach. Hotel Effie has a shuttle that takes people to and from the private beach access every 15 minutes. They have kayaks, paddleboards, and beach chairs available for hotel guests to use.
30A is a true beachtown which means there’s not a whole lot to do besides hit the beach, eat, and shop around. I’m a sun lover so this is my kind of place but if you’re looking for an area with more to do, I suggest checking out Tampa, Miami, or Orlando.
With fine white sand, crystal clear waters, and no waves these Gulf Coast Beaches are truly paradise. Most beach accesses here are private since the houses technically “own” the beach in front of them so if you’re visiting I suggest Googling public beach accesses or checking out one of the State Parks for parking and bathroom access.
Seaside is known for all of its incredible high-end boutiques. With classy designers, coastal accessories, and upscale swimwear this is the best place to window shop. I could spend all day trying things on in these fun stores!
If you’re looking to shop more mainstream stores like Abercrombie, Aerie, H&M, and more, check out Destin Commons. This is an outdoor mall full of popular favorites and a few local boutiques. It’s very mellow over here and a great place to spend a chilly/rainy afternoon.
Not sure what to wear in 30A, Florida?! Don’t worry I’ve got you covered—sharing everything I wore during my spring break stay in this blog post. Per usual I’m sharing links to everything so you can shop as well as directions to each photo location so that you can spice up your Instagram feed!
With this detailed travel guide, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience in 30A. From the charming beach towns to the friendly locals, you’ll be missing the timeless beauty of Florida’s Gulf Coast long after your stay.
