It’s hard to believe it’s already the first of April. Time is flying! Today I’m wrapping up my March 2019 favorites + happenings. I’ve got a lot to say so let’s hop right in.
March fashion is easily one of my least favorites of the year. There’s nothing worse than wanting to dress for warmer temperatures but it still being thirty degrees out! It’s killing me lately and I’m totally hating these transition weeks. Therefore, my fashion favorites were all over the place. I loved leopard all month long; I wore my Dolce Vita mules a ton as well as my chunky cheetah sneakers from SheIn. Black on black has quickly become a must for me, leaving my black Zaful sweaters in rotation along with my trusty black turtleneck from Hollister. Oh, and of course with baseball season starting this month I’ve been wearing yellow up the wazoo. I love showing my school spirit each game but in a more subtle way.
I’ve been a huge accessories gal lately. This month I fell in love with belts after ordering a few off of SheIn. They have the best belt selection and the best part is that all of them are under $5! The leopard one is by far my favorite. My most worn earrings this month were definitely my pink $2 tassels from SheIn and my star earrings that are only $2 as well! There’s nothing a few affordable accessories can’t fix.
I have perfect eye sight but I received a few pairs from Discount Glasses for a collaboration this month and I have completely fallen in love. I obviously chose the ‘non-perscription’ type but these all have blue light lenses in them making them perfect if you’re someone who spends a lot of time looking at the screen. I try to wear these at night while I’m working, scrolling, and watching TV; they have signficantly reduced the strain in my eyes when falling asleep! 10/10 would recommend.
I’ve been on my workout wear grind lately, wearing up a storm all my cute sets! I collabed with Yogalicious and Buff Bunny this month, both providing me with some fun new options. I am totally obsessed with high waisted leggings, chunky sneakers, and cropped sports bras right now. Oh, and of course my orange set from Joy Lab at Target… it was definitely a hit!
I’m soaking up every second in bed lately leaving my makeup routine awfully simple in the mornings. I don’t have anything too notable to mention but I figured I’d break downa few of my everyday products that are keeping my face fresh and fast.
Well, I’ve been a bit better in this category this month. Lent started in early March for us Catholics and although I didn’t give up anything in specific I have been trying to keep up with my habits as I’ve found that doing something better for myself is always more valuable than giving something up. I’m counting down the days until Katie gets back from school so we can start going to church with one another on Sunday nights!
Madison, my dad and I decided this month that we were going to start watching The Voice with one another and I’ve loved it. It’s so fun getting to listen to all the talented singers and it’s nice getting to spend some time with one another a couple of nights a week. Madison and I also are watching Season 5 of Jane The Virgin on tv because we both are obsessed. I’m #TeamRafeal and Madison is #TeamMichael… who are you?!
I’ve been listening to all the country this month (DUH!) and my favorite song has got to be Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not by Thompson Square. I’ll link my country playlist from Spotify here in case you want to check it out.
This month has been all about prom! Of course the date of my dance isn’t until May 17, but I know tons of schools have it much earlier so starting the first Friday of March I began posting an installment to my prom series every Friday. It has been so fun working with different designers, companies, and retailers to tons of different options. I’ve shared everything from the most extravagant gowns to the most affordable to hopefully provide the perfect option for everyone. It’s been so rewarding getting to connect with so many amazing brands; I’m feeling extra grateful for what I do this month!
I will say, I did slack off when it came to keeping up with my posting schedule across all spectrums, mostly because school and life have been so crazy this month but I want to fix this in April! My habit tracker did me wonders in February so I’m thinking of giving it another go this month.
In other exciting news… you all know I was published in my first ever online magazine feature for Voyage Houston last month and the printed version of my feature came in the mail last week! It looks so awesome and I cannot wait to frame it for above my desk. I love celebrating the little (okay HUGE) accomplishments like this one.
Like I just said, I’m hoping to be better about my Instagram photos, stories, blog, and telegram groups. It’s a lot staying consistent across the board but it makes me feel so accomplished to keep up with it all so fingers crossed for April.
I don’t have any huge blogging plans for the month of April. I’ll be keeping up with my prom series on Friday’s but aside from that it’s looking like I’ll need to get a little creative. Oh, I’m also hoping to start lining up some dorm room decor collabs as graduation season is quickly approaching and before we know it I’ll be moving into Kent!
March is my least favorite month of the year so needless to say, my month wasn’t anything fantastic. Baseball started on the first so my afternoons have been consumed by practice, scrimmages, and games. I’m so thankful to be back in a routine but this season feels different without all my people. I miss them more than ever but am feeling so grateful for this time last year and am trying to find comfort in these last few months of high school. April is going to be busy busy busy between baseball, a few last minute cheer related things, and beginning to study for exams. We’ve reached the home stretch and I cannot decide how I’m supposed to feel…
Is it normal to feel uneasy during this period of transition? I’d like to hear your perspective below if you have a second to spare; thanks so much for sticking with me this past month! Here’s to a (hopefully) smiley and sunny April.
With love, McKenz
