3 Ways I’m Wearing Flannel This Winter

There’s truly nothing I love more than a little bit of plaid, especially in the wintertime. I’ve been wearing flannels on repeat these days and decided today it would be fun to sit down and share some of my favorite ways to wear them this season. Whether you’re keeping things casual or headed downtown for the day I’ve got the perfect outfit for the occasion. Let’s hop in!

ALL BUNDLED UP

Temperatures have been absolutely freezing here recently so warm layers are a must! I’m starting this outfit off in a simple long sleeve top and layering over a chunky sweater. I got this adorable wool coat back in September and love pulling it out for a pop of color. It’s not the heaviest jacket by any means, but because it’s wool it still keeps you relatively warm. To play off that bright blue, I’m throwing on a thick scarf to match.

As for the bottom half of me—sometimes you just can’t go wrong with skinny jeans. I love the way they pair with these boots. I get tons of questions on winter weather boots and truthfully, I wear these Dolce Vita ones all the time. They are super easy to slip on and off + match literally everything. For those post snow days, they are the ideal bootie for walking around campus!

DOWNTOWN FOR THE DAY

You can find me throwing a flannel over a basic top pretty much any day but especially as of recently. I’ve got tons of different tanks, tees, and long sleeves that need a little layering love in the winter. The top I have on here is actually a sweater knit so it’s perfect for this time of year. I’m throwing one of my favorite flannels on over top.

This one has a little bit of chestnut brown in it so a pair of matching heeled booties was a must. I love these Franco Sarto boots, so much so that I have them in two different colors. Of course, they pair effortlessly with my go-to straight-leg jeans from Express. I’ve been wearing them nonstop recently (per this blog post) and love them no matter what the day entails.

ALL COZIED UP

On most work-from-home days you can find me wearing a cozy matching sweatsuit with a flannel thrown over the top. I am totally loving this hunter green right now and found the cutest flannel from SheIn to match. This added layer takes no effort but pulls the outfit together in no time!

When headed out the door, I’m slipping into tall chelsea boots from Steve Madden + a scarf to match. This color coordination truly never fails. Plus, it’s visually balanced making it appealing to the eye.
