Well, it’s safe to say our week in the Outer Banks was a success. We were worried that Hurricane Isaias would leave us evacuating after just two days on the island but to our surprise, it missed us almost entirely and left us with just a few stray afternoon showers. Either way, this week ended up being exactly what I needed.
Unplugging (as much as possible) from work, spending time in the sun, and attempting to relax was just what I needed before the chaotic week ahead. This week’s agenda includes building furniture, packing up bags, and grabbing last-minute necessities before moving into the sorority house on Friday to begin my sophomore year of college. Although my time at home was much longer than intended, I have enjoyed every second and am dreading the goodbyes that this week will bring. On a happier note, let’s first recap our family vacay!
With love, McKenz
I honestly cannot even remember the last time I filmed a full week in my life vlog but I figured I better get back into the swing of things before heading back to school next week! We had lots of “vibe checks”, food ratings, and fogged up camera lenses this week. Everyone’s personalities are really showing through in this vlog so I hope you enjoy, lol!
8.2.20— Today was our first full beach day and it certainly did not disappoint. I headed out around 9:00 am and got home around 5:00 pm— I’d call that a successful day! We went to Hurricane Moe’s for dinner which is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the Outer Banks. I had the yummiest mango salsa chicken. We ended the night with ice cream to celebrate 23K on YouTube!

8.3.20— I headed out to the beach nice and early this morning. I like to get out there a few hours before everyone else is up to enjoy the morning on my own. It stormed mid-day so I came back to the house and had a quick blog post-intermission before heading back down to the water. Enjoying burgers and tater tots for dinner!

8.4.20— We lucked out big time and had the hurricane miss us almost entirely! We had some wind in the morning but by lunchtime, I was able to head to the beach and enjoy a few hours in the sun. I finished my Nicholas Sparks book and started reading the Spinister Sisters which is already so good!

8.5.20— Decided to get up for the sunrise this morning and I’m so glad I did; I love starting the morning off this way. I stayed on the beach until 3 pm when I started getting rained on. As sad as I was to be “sent home” early, it gave me time to write today’s blog post which I was contemplating skipping.

8.6.20— Just my usual beach day today. Woke up around 8, headed to the beach, and spent hours reading my book, scrolling through Instagram, and flipping through old Cosmopolitan magazines. It ended up storming mid-afternoon again so I headed home for an outdoor shower to get ready for dinner. We went to Barefoot Bernies where I had another yummy meal! Back to another ice cream shop for strawberry sorbet and a cheers to 24K.

8.7.20— Madison and I wore matching swimsuits today and had her boyfriend Colton take a gazillion pictures of us after the rain sent us home. As irritated as I was that my beach days kept getting cut short, it gave me time to work on blog posts that I was planning on skipping and we didn’t end up needing to be evacuated for the hurricane which would have been much worse.

8.8.20— Our final day soaking up the sun before heading home to Maryland. The weather was just gorgeous today with sunny skies and the warmest water. Madison, Colton, and I spent quite a bit of time on our boogie boards just floating around. Packed up and said see ya later to the beach house; I’m already ready for next year’s trip!
